I goofed.

Here's the bottom line... I didn't do my homework. ...Because, I got some email telling me about two programs that would put audio on a website for half the $97 price of Sonic Memo. If you're one of the people that wrote in, you're absolutely right. I discovered two programs for less than fifty dollars (U.S.) that do the job well. You can read about them in the review section below. One includes resale rights.

How to Get Testimonials Effortlessly

As I mentioned last week, I feel like the best use of website audio is through testimonials. If you want to build credibility for your products or services, you've got to get testimonials from your customers. Would you like to here my secret to getting good testimonials?

Whenever I launch a new product, customers are automatically added to a follow-up autoresponder. That autoresponder sends messages out according to a schedule I specify. Usually around 14 days after the purchase, an email is sent out with the subject line "(Customer's first name), Can I ask a Favor?". This subject line gets an excellent response.

Within the body of the message, I offer an 'ethical bribe' in exchange for feedback about the product. Did you notice I asked for feedback, not a testimonial. I don't want the customer to feel like they have to say something good about my product. If there's something wrong with it, then that's information I need, too. In return for their feedback, I give them an ebook that's on the same or similar to the topic of the product they purchased.

Assuming the feedback is positive, I write to ask permission to use it on my website or in my marketing materials. I usually ask for a photo as well. I've yet to have anyone turn me down. Most people are happy to help plus since I offer to list their website along with their name, they view it as free promotion for their website. And by the way, this works. I've had people tell me that they found my website through a testimonial on someone else's site.

If I'm seeking audio testimonials, instead of asking for emails, I'll ask them to call a 24 hour voice mail line that I have setup with Kall8.com (see ECC 17). I can then download their recorded comments and upload them to my website using my website audio program.

After running through this process, I'll usually have all the testimonials I need within a few weeks plus I'll use any negative feedback to improve my product on the next update.

Wanted: 10 Great Products with Ugly Websites

Do you have a product that you're convinced could be a winner if you had a better website or sales letter? But maybe you spent a fortune on your original site and it's not working for you. Maybe you're afraid or unable to invest any more money in your website so it's just sitting there doing nothing.

You could hire a professional copywriter to do a write a strong sales letter for you but that will cost thousands of dollars. Or, you could hire me to review your website or even to do a complete makeover. That costs far less and is  great way to turn that site into a moneymaker. But what if you can't afford to even invest a few hundred dollars into your website right now?

Or what if the problem is you hate marketing? Maybe you love to write. Maybe your thing is writing great software. But as much as you love to create products, you hate to sell. You secretly wish that someone else would come along and take care of the marketing part for you. And you'd gladly share a portion of the profits if only you could find someone willing to help.

If that sounds like you, then maybe I can help. I'm looking for 10 people to be my partners. I'm looking for great products to sell.

If you're one of the 10 people I choose, I'll give your website and sales letter a complete makeover. I'll write or rewrite autoresponder follow-up messages, help you publish an ezine, find joint venture partners, affiliates and so on. Rather than charge you a fee up-front, we'll split the profits.

You are ready for success, aren't you? If so, you've got nothing to lose. If I can't turn your site into a moneymaker, you owe me nothing.

Here's the criteria. It has to be a product you created or own exclusive rights to. It can't be a product you're an affiliate for or a resale rights product that's available to anyone. I prefer information products but am open to other type of products, too. It can be on any subject you like as long as there's a market for it.

The one thing I'm definitely not interested in is a product on how to make money on the Internet. Don't get me wrong, I love selling in that market but you probably shouldn't be telling people how to make money online before you actually make some yourself, right?

The other requirements are as follows:

  1. It's got to be finished. Please don't send me an unfinished ebook or piece of software that's not 100% operational and tested.
  2. You've got to believe in the product 100%. It doesn't have to be perfect but it has to be something you're proud to have created.

If you're excited about this idea, you should go to my site at www.MasterSiteReviewer.com and fill out the Quote form at the bottom of the page. When you see the question, "What product or service are you selling on your website?", type "PICK ME" in all-caps before typing the answer to the question. That way, I'll know it's from you and not a regular quote request.

Please fill out all the questions on that form as completely as possible. The more detail the better. The more effort you put into answering those questions, the more likely you'll be picked.

So why wait? Go fill out the form now:

Have a great weekend!

All the best,

Review: Two Ways to Add Audio To Your Website For Under $50.

At $97, I thought Sonic Memo was a great deal since the industry leader, Audio Generator, charges $29 a month. Apparently, you disagreed. So I dug deeper...

First, I found a program called Audio Player Pro. (www.GetWebsiteAudio.com) It's $50 less than Sonic Memo. It runs $47 and includes resale rights. Also, keep reading and I'll tell you how to get it for $10 less than advertised.

It's even simpler to use than Sonic Memo. It works directly with MP3 files so you don't have to convert audio files to flash like you do with Sonic Memo and Audio Generator.

It's very simple to use. You open the program...

  1. Enter the Filename of your audio file. There's a browse button so it's just like opening a document on your computer.
  2. You enter the address of your website.
  3. You enter whatever text you want to display below the player like "Press Play to Listen to a Testimonial", etc.
  4. You select your color, size, alignment and style preferences.
  5. You click a button to generate the code.
  6. You click grab the code which copies the code to your clipboard and then you paste it into your HTML document or website.
With resale rights included, it's hard to beat. The package includes a complete web page that you can use to resell it. Quite frankly, the page they give you is pretty ugly. Don't worry, though, I took care of that.

I bought resale rights to Audio Player Pro and the first thing I did was give the resale webpage a complete makeover including a new header graphic. When you buy it from me, you'll get the new webpage. Also, if you order by Sept. 25th, 2004, you'll get $10 off.  Click here to order Audio Player Pro (the $10 discount will appear in the shopping cart when you order).

The price will show as $47 on the webpage but you'll see the $10 discount applied on the order page. This isn't a gimmick, by the way. The discount link automatically expires in 7 days.

The second program I found is MP3 Soundstream, which appears to be an excellent program that sells for $39.95. Even if don't plan to use their product, there's an excellent ebook tutorial on using sound on your website that you can download free. Thanks to my buddy, Father Dave Smith for pointing this one out to me.

As an aside, I've got to tell you about Father Dave. What picture comes to your mind when you hear that name? If I told you he's a parish priest, a father of three and a hard worker in his community, I doubt you'd be surprised or even terribly interested. But what If I told you that Father Dave is a professional boxer and kick boxer and a 6th degree black belt?

What if I told you that Father Dave runs a youth camp where he teaches boys and young men how to box  so they'll be LESS violent? It's true and Father Dave has an incredible story. I highly recommend his book, which has highly unexpected title. You can download a free chapter at his website, FatherDave.org.

Anyway, Dave rings me up the other day and tells me that I need to have a look at MP3 Soundstream. Although I didn't buy it (I've already got Website Audio Pro and Sonic Memo) but it does look like an excellent deal.

Bottom Line: Compared to the $27 monthly cost of Audio Generator or the $97 one-time cost of Sonic Memo (which is about to go up in price to $147), Audio Player Pro is a steal at $47. With resale rights included, it can be a moneymaker for you, too, if you sell to website owners. And remember, I've included a $10 off coupon if you order by the 25th of September.

Click here to order Audio Player Pro. The $10 discount will appear in the shopping cart when you order.
